Frigiliana Culture

In the most Eastern part of  Malaga in the region known as the Axarquia and nestled between the Almijara, Tejeda and Alhama mountain ranges lies the village of Frigiliana with approximately 3,000 inhabitants.  At 300 metres above sea level and with a subtropical climate it's prized historical quarter of Moorish heritage arises with narrow streets filled with whitewashed houses most of which are adorned with an injection of colour from local plants and flowers such as geraniums.

It's Arab structure qualifies it as one of the most popular in the province of Malaga and has even received an award for the most beautiful village in Spain. Frigiliana boasts a wide range of services to satisfy the demands of it's tourists. A wide range of accommodations including, hotels, apartments and villas with pools are available, not to mention the even wider range of restaurants offering local, national and international cuisine

The village celebrates it's rich cultural history with the Festival of Three Cultures: of the Moors, of the Jews and of the Christians. Lying a few kilometres inland in the foothills of the Sierra Tejeda-Almijara mountains, the narrow winding streets of this small village, 350 metres above sea level, are living testament to its centuries of Moorish occupation, and of the years when the three cultures lived there in harmony. Today the village is a vibrant cultural mix of nationalities that manages to retain its historic past.
